Patreon hack, check for hacked accounts

Postby BenBenBeartrax » Sun Oct 04, 2015 9:43 am

As you may have read Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/) has been hacked in the past days (http://observer.com/2015/10/patreon-dat ... n-now-see/) and their user database dumped and made public. Which is sad as it exposed a lot of information on who is backing which project with how much money along with a potentially a lot of personal information about the Patreon users.

While reading about the hack I came across the site https://haveibeenpwned.com/ which is authored by a well know security researcher and makes parts the dumped data from such hacks searchable for the purpose of finding out whether your username or email address has been part of a prominent hack.

I recommend to check your usernames and emails against it and if a match is found change the password of that service. If you search for my email for example you will find a match for the Patreon hack.
